KUNCHUKULAM FOREST RETREAT
Experience life in a Northern Sri Lankan village
Not far North of Wilpattu, hidden away from the tourist action, you will find a village called Kunchukulam. By day, the streets of Kunchukulam are filled with local people going about their day to day life: visiting neighbours, going to school, collecting water, grazing their goats. By night, the streets of Kunchukulam are taken over by elephants, out looking for a juicy banana or wood apple to feast on.
Come and stay with us at Kunchukulam Forest Retreat and we will show you a little bit of the Kunchukulam magic. The retreat is owned and operated by local young people. They love to meet people from around the world, talk about their daily lives and share their knowledge of the surrounding forests.
SLEEP
The rooms are simple; comfy sleeping mats and pillows with a big insect net. There is an indoor shower, but the outside one is our favourite. There is nothing quite as nice as showering under the branches of a wood apple tree.

EAT
All your meals will be prepared locally by families in the village. Traditional Tamil breakfasts and barbecues are guest favourites.

EXPLORE
During your stay, you will be taken on a guided village walk, watch the sunset over a tank filled with lily pads and listen to stories of village life. We make tailored programs for each guest based on how long they wish to stay.

YOUR HOST
This is Jerad. The guesthouse is located on his family property. He speaks English, is learning French and has the biggest, warmest smile. He will be your host while you are in Kunchukulam.
Throughout your stay you will meet other local young people as your explore different aspects of the village and forest.
